The game does a good job introducing the portals one at a time, starting off with the simple one that just shows you the difference in the two worlds. Now, the focal point of the gameplay that makes this title interestingly different from the rest is the use of portals. Make sure you get a good grasp on these movements because the last chapter is going to be a hard test of your skill!

The tricks end gradually unlock as you get deeper into the story, but eventually you will be able to double-jump, double-dash, and wall climb. As you make your way through the land, you will learn new tricks and the important use of portals themselves. GameplayĪs with most platforming games, you start out with only the ability to move and jump. Seeing as you are one of the few to narrowly escape the initial attack, the decision lands on you as the great mages ask you to help them open the portals that will lead to the demon king. Quickly learning that the demon king was behind the attack and another creature that tells the tale of how their land fell due to this attack and the closure of the portals, you know that something has to be done. StoryĪfter an evil threat has corrupted the magical powers of your world, the mages frantically closed the portals that connected the different worlds together.

It has been an interesting take on the genre. Some of the other things that will happen with portals include a change in gravity, meaning you’ll walk on the roof instead, or sometimes it’s simply to provide light while the area around you is pitch black.There are plenty of action platformer titles out there, but Alien Pixel Studios definitely created an interesting take with Unbound: Worlds Apart! Launching today, players can start their platform-based adventure and see how the powers given through the use of another world can help them complete a variety of parkour maneuvers and fight without actually attacking anything. Luckily it can only get you with the portal open, but guess how you solve puzzles. Easily the most startling is a centipede that can tell where you are, even if you can’t see where it is without opening the portal. It doesn’t take long for puzzles and the overall level design to become a little more sinister and challenging, as small harmless butterflies become crazy, almost dragon-like creatures when entering the portal. Early on, there isn’t anything that could be considered overly crazy, as the portals are used to basically give you platforms to reach areas you couldn’t before. The puzzles in Unbound are very interesting as you pass through a gate to each area that allows you to open portals, what effects the portals have, can be different. In Unbound, you’re a mage named Soli, who, after undergoing some events in the beginning of the game (the less I spoil it, the better), receives the ability to control and open portals between worlds that create different effects and puzzles for each area. The premise, for the most part, is very simple and straightforward. Nothing worse than having to deal with some creepy crawlies.
